I cannot claim any blood relation to your father, Don. Nor can I say I even knew him for a short time. However, he sounds as though he was quite literally, a warrior for the kingdom of God. Praise God for people like your father! Without good men like this, we may not have the freedom to worship the one true God in the US.

Hi, Uncle Don.
I also think you and Aunt Pat are amazing people. In the midst of my chaotic upbringing, I so enjoyed the time we spent visiting your family. Your family was the greatest example of peace and stability I had ever observed in my youth. It was wonderful to see how gentle you and Aunt Pat were with your daughters. Your example had a great impact on me, learning it is possible to have peace in the home. You and Aunt Pat always taught by example and live according to how the Lord intends for us all to live. The Light of the Lord always shines in you.
Many Blessings.

I'm proud of Grandpa for serving our country and being awarded the Victory Medal, but let me tell you about MY DADDY! He also was awarded the Victory Medal but never asked for it. Who gave it to him? His daughters! He is an amazing man of God, amazing husband and amazing father, who must have inherited his wisdom from HIS Daddy. I could write for hours on the merits of this great man, my Daddy! And his children and grandchildren are his legacy.

I'll never forget Grandpa telling me with that knowing sparkle in his eye, like the cat that ate the canary, that if you're a good listener, you not only know what the other person knows, but you also know what you know. The other person who does all the talking only knows what he knows. I never forgot that. What wisdom!

Evert was my father-in-law for 50 years lacking 2 months, and a wonderful person, full of wisdom, encouragement and spiritual guidance. I will be forever grateful to have known him and most of all to have been his daughter-in-law.
